Known as "The Jewel of Srinagar", Dal Lake is approximately 26 sq. kilometers in area and certainly tops the list of attractions included in our Kashmir tour packages. With its beauteous scenery, this marvelous lake comes with colorfully decorated Shikaras, typical wood houseboats, and active floating markets. A principal activity that visitors do at Dal Lake is a ride on the exquisite Shikaras- ornately decorated boats made of wood, with overhead canopies.
Visit the Shankaracharya Temple, which is the prominent landmark located on a hill in Srinagar. One has to climb 250 steps to reach the temple and get a feel of the exquisite beauty of this ancient temple, known for its special architecture and inscriptions on the walls and the view it presents of Dal Lake and Jhelum Valley from its top. Inside lies the cave where the learned scholar Adi Shankara meditated. It is a place that has been enveloped in history and massive restoration works attributed to King Gopadittya. The Gulmarg Gondola is the second-highest and second-longest cable car ride in the world. While going up the Apharwat Mountain, it is divided into two phases. First phase: This one takes you from the Gulmarg Resort to the Kongdoori Station. Second phase: This continues from the Kongdoori Mountain till the peak of Apharwat. It offers views of Mt. Nanda Devi and the Pir Panjal Ranges.
